Thunkd is a games company, but not just a games company.
Meet Thunkd
Thunkd is a brand new company. It was launched in February 2011 by videogames industry veteran Andrew Crawshaw. Andrew has over 15 years experience working in interactive media as a designer, artist, director, producer and manager.
Thunkd will follow a production company model, carefully selecting the very best partners to deliver each project on a case-by-case basis. We have already begun to work on our first projects using this model.
We were founded in Leeds, England, but our studio is in the cloud.
Our Philosophy
We try to see things from a different angle, and to find unconsidered possibilities. We like to be given problems and propositions that initially leave us befuddled. We like to be challenged.
We believe that every new technology and technique is the potential seed of an infinite number of new experiences, and that innovation offers more opportunity than pure invention.
We love new technology, but we also think that there's plenty of existing technology that hasn't been fully explored or exploited. We spot these things, and we turn them into something amazing.

Increasingly we're shifting our media consumption onto mobile devices; phones, handheld consoles and tablets.

Digital excites us, but that doesn't mean we've forgotten about the physical world.

Location based games and services exist at the point where the real-world and the digital-world meet.
GPS, NFC and other emerging technologies allow us to more deeply connect both worlds.

While half the planet seems to be migrating to social networks, the rest of the internet is still a very interesting - and fun - place to be.

Because we're a new company, many of the things that we're working on are still in 'stealth' mode, or in the case of client projects, have yet to be announced. Here's a peek at some of the projects that we can talk about...
Lap Uranus
Thunkd's first iPhone project is Lap Uranus. (Well, what else could we call a game about flying around a planet). It features a super-simple, pick up and play control system, and 'twitchy' game play. It also has a too-awesome-for-words mulitplayer option - 4-players-on-1-iPhone.
Thunkd provided art and design while code was provided by Peter Featherstone (AKA Buttersmooth).

iPhone Project 2
We're already planning our second iPhone project - a game of skill, accuracy, and cunning.
We'll be providing the creative polish to a piece of proven technology, and we'll also be handling marketing duties.
Expect to see this game late 2011.
Vektropolis 2069
Thunkd is co-producing Vektropolis 2069 with Dark Computer Entertainment..
Vektropolis is an independent game being developed for a digital release sometime in 2012.
Vektropolis will herald a new age in vector based graphics. It will combine the power of modern consoles with aesthetic values from a classic period of videogaming history to create breathtaking results. Follow Vektropolis here.
Radical Care Services
Thunkd isn't just about games. We've spotted the potential for a radical approach to care for those with early stage Alzheimer's Disease.
We've identified a number of existing technologies that can be combined to create an innovative idea that will hopefully make life for sufferers and their families a little easier.
We are currently looking for funding to realise this project.
A Problem Solving Game
We think we have a solution to a problem that is facing our increasingly urbanised world.
We've spoken to some of the world's biggest corporations, as well as councils and local authorities, and we're convinced that our ambitious and daring project could save enormous amounts of money, and help the environment.
